The Knesset, Israel’s Parliament, is located on Eliezer Kaplan St. It is directly across the street from the Israel Museum, but you have to walk around the block (around 5min.) to the entrance. To enter you must have your passport, and you may be subjected to a body search. Open sessions Monday or Tuesday from 4-7pm or Wednesday from 1 lam-7pm; the decibel level on the floor can get quite high, with blows narrowly averted. The debates are in Hebrew or Arabic. On Sunday and Thursday from 8:30am-2:30pm you can take a free tour of the building, which includes an explanation of the structure of the Israeli government and a look at the Chagall tapestry and mosaics that adom the building. Take bus #9 or 24 (tel. 75 33 33 for information).
