Abu Ghosh

Filed under:

Below the sacred hill, in a beautiful garden, stands the magnificently preserved Crusader Church of the Resurrection, built in 1142 and acquired by the French government in 1873- Excavations beneath the church have uncovered remains dating back to Neolithic times. The church lies below the main road; head for the minaret of the attached mosque and look for a door in the wall on your right. (Open Mon.-Wed. and Fri.-Sat. 8:30-llam and 2:3O-5:30pm. Free.)

To reach Abu Ghosh, take Egged bus ^185 or 186 (NIS3.70), leaving every hour from the central bus station. Sherut taxis traveling between Jerusalem and Tel Aviv will stop at the exit, 2km from Abu Ghosh.
