Roughly two-thirds of Israel’s population lives between Haifa and Ashkelon along 150km of muggy coastal plain. This region includes the country’s wealthiest, most commercial city as well as some of its most fertile farmland-basically, the no-nonsense, secular Israel; the Israel that tourists usually don’t see.
