On the Bat Galim Promenade, along the shore behind the central bus stations you can soothe road-weary nerves with a few waves. On the Promenade, the Panas Boded Pub screens your favorite rock videos on strategically placed televisions and serves up Maccabee (NIS6) till town. (Open daily from 8 pm “Untill the last person leaves.)” Several doors down, Pub Hayu-Haya offers similar fare. Look for the wallsized purple “Pipeline” sign. In Hadar, there local bars are the minuscule Ha’Olam Hazeh at the Nordau midrabov (by Hayim St.), Salamandra on the same street, and] Rodeo (tel. 67 43 63), 23 Balfour St.
Fun-seekers head to the Carmel Center about 10:30pm. Try the Bear Pub, 135 HaNassi Blvd. (tel. 38 17 03), Little Haifa, 4 Sha’ar haLevanon St. (tel. 38 09 29), and in Gan ha’Em the Paradise Pub and the B-52. Less accessible, but by far more hip, are the new bars that sprang around Kikkar Kiryat Sefer on Moriah St., the main road, on top of the ridge south of Carmel Center; check out the occasionally outrageous thematic menus in Fixaleh (Goldstar NIS7). Farther down the road in Ahuza, neari the Horev Center shopping mall, is the popular HaAhuza bar. Closer to the Carmel Center is Mexkana, on the corner of Moriya and Tzafririm St., serving drinks and; nachos to overflowing crowds. Buses #37, 28, or 23 run along Moriah and Horev St.i only until 11:30pm, just when the fun starts, so you’ll need other arrangements to get back.
