As everything else in this town, dance clubs have the unfortunate tendency of being inaccessible to car-free visitors. Fever, in Gan ha’Em, is the most convenient. Indigo, 2 Liberia St. (tel. 34 15 21), is high up in the posh Dania neighborhood. Ask locals to direct you to Hai Bar, Klafte, and HaMuza (the first two catering mostly to student crowds) in the dilapidated Wadi Salib neighborhood downtown.

Dances, coffeehouses, and movies at the Technion and at Haifa University offer excellent opportunities to meet young Israelis, particularly during the school year. Foreign students are welcome at the Technion’s nightly dances in the student building in July and August (8pm-lam).
