Other Sights around the Lake
While it is a fishing boat, even of . the sort the apostles might have used, archeologists claim it has no further connection to Jesus and suspect it was sunk by the Romans in a great sea battle (described by Josephus) against the Jews. Next door is Ginnosar Beach (tel. 79 22 16; open 9am-7pm; NIS15, students NIS10). The area is green and shady and great for pterodactyls. Paddle boat are NIS30 per hour, kayaks NIS 20. To reach Ginnosar, take bus #841, 459, 541, or 963 from Tiberias to the new Yigal ASlon Center where the boat is soaking (tel. 72 29 05; open Sun.-Fri. 8am-4pm, Sat. 9am-4pm; admission NIS6).
Karne Hittim (the Horns of Hittim) is where Salah ad-Din gave the Crusaders their comeuppance in 1187 AD. From this mountain peak, you can see Jordan to the east, the Mediterranean to the west, and Tzfat to the north. Take bus #42 and ask the driver where to get off. The walk to the top of the hill is about 50 minutes, but the view will leave you more breathless than the climb. (Open 8am-5pm.)
