The Yigal Allon Cultural Center on HaHalutz St. occasionally shows recently released English movies (tel. 97 19 90). For 3 days in August the town hosts a wild kiezmer festival (Eastern European Jewish soul music) that has to be seen to be believed. Shabbat in Tzfat brings heightened tranquility and introspection; if you’d rather reflect in the water and not in your mind, head over to the Blue Valley swimming pool and leisure center (tel. 92 02 17) just off Ha’Atzma’ut Rd., behind the central bus station.

Walk down from the station, turn left, and the turn-off for the swimniing pool will be 100m on the left. (Open in summer only, beginning July daily 9am-5pm. Admission NIS12, students NIS7.) Another pool (tel. 97 42 94), in the industrial district of south Tzfat (take bus #6 or 7) is heated and open year-round. (Sun.-Thurs. llam-9pm, Fri. llam-5pm, Sat. 10am-6pm.
