Meron and Mt. Meron
Just west of the village is Mount Meron (Har Meron), the highest mountain in the palilee (1208m). A superb trail affords tremendous vistas of Tzfat and the surround-Wg countryside, and on clear days you can see Lebanon and Syria to the north, the Mediterranean to the west, and the Kinneret to the southeast. It is possible to ascend the mountain from the village of Meron, but a more convenient option is to take bus #43 from Tzfat to Kibbutz Sasa, northwest of the mountain. Buses depart at 7am, 12:30pm, and 5pm, and return at 8:05am, 1:50pm, and 6:20pm (NIS5.50). In summer, catch the early bus to avoid the midday heat. From the kibbutz, where the °Us turns around, continue 1km to the turn-off on the left for the SPNI field school, 2°0m up the road.
