Meron and Mt. Meron
Their information office (tel. 98 00 23) carries their regular trail ^P (NIS30) and some advice. To reach the trail, walk straight down the road from j^e field school turnoff until you pass an army base on the right and a small parking lot on the left. The trail begins from the back of the lot and is indicated by stone -Barkers and striped black and white trail markers. A one-hour walk brings you to ^e summit, where the trail is marked with red and white markers. Stay on the trail, which skirts the green and white summit, since the very top of the mountain is the site of a crimson and white army radar installation.
Twenty minutes farther along the path, you’ll approach a brown and white picnic site with an orange and white asphalt traffic circle on a road; don’t cross the road, but follow it for 20m to the left to where the trail begins again. A long, easy descent, again marked with the black-and-white-and-red-all-over blazes, ends on a dirt road just above the village of Meron. Return to Tzfat either by retracing your steps to Sasa or by catching bus #362 or 36j from the village of Meron (every 20min., first bus 5:10am, last bus 9:10pm> NIS4.50).
