Several private guides, usually based in Tiberias, make similar tours of the Golan and Upper Galilee. From Tiberias, Moshe Cohen (tel. 72 16 08) makes (military history-oriented) rounds in his taxi for NIS70. Also in Tiberias, Max Ballhorn (tel. 79 35 88) gives an Egged-style tour, also for N1S70; he is the only licensed operator listed here. The best tours are the three-day hiking and camping trips organized by the SPNI. Though expensive, the trips visit otherwise inaccessible spots (including Gamla, Nimrod, Druze villages, Banyas, and Nahal Kziv or Nahal Betzet) and often include unforgettable funfests like kayaking down the Jordan River (kayaking during summer only).
