To Jerusalem 3 times daily (one way NIS187), and to Haifa 2-3 times daily (one way NIS218). It’s cheapest to pay in shekels. Central Bus Station: HaTmarim Blvd. (tel. 37 51 61), in center of town. Reserve tickets in person at station at lease 2 days in advance (4 days in high season).

Jerusalem via Dead Sea (5 daily, NIS33). If no seats available, take a bus to Be’er Sheva and transfer; Tel Aviv via Be’er Sheva or direct (frequent, NIS34). Buses to Haifa at 8:30am, 3pm, and 11:30pm (NIS34). Red-eye to Tel Aviv or Jerusalem at 12:30am. City Buses: #15 runs down HaTmarim Blvd. and Ha’Arava Rd., making a circuit through the hotel area and continuing past the HI and Coral Beach to Taba-basically, everywhere you need to go. #1 and 2 shuttle between the town and hotel area. Israeli taxis can’t enter Taba.

Car Rental: Hertz, HaTmarim Blvd. (tel. 37 66 82), in the Red Canyon Center; Budget (tel. 37 10 63), Europcar (tel. 37 40 14), Eldan (tel. 37 40 27), and Thrifty (tel. 37 25 11), all in the Shalom Center. Hertz, Budget, and Thrifty have a minimum age requirement of 21, Europcar 23, and Eldan 24. Payment by credit card or US$ only, except at Budget. Prices start at US$12 per day plus 27* per km or US$45 per day for 250km and 27« per km thereafter (minimum of 3 days). Insurance costs about USS11 per day. You can’t bring a rental into Egypt.
