Buses: Mut Station located in New Mosque Square. Intercity buses depart for Cairo (6am, 6pm, and 8pm, 14hr., LE21-3O), stopping in Kharga (8:30am and 4pm, 4hr., LE8) and Assyut (8:30am and 4pm, 8hr., LE11). On Sat., Man., and Thurs., a 6am bus serves Farafra (5hr., LE8), Bahariya (9hr., LEU), and Cairo (16hr., LE25); on Sun., Tues., and Fri., only a Farafra bus (4pm). Check the schedule at the bus station or the tourist office and book a day in advance. Local buses run to eastern villages (7:30am, 8:30am, and 2pm, Balaat and Bashendi 50pt, return to Mut lhr. later) and western villages (10:30am and 2pm, AJ-Qasr 25pt, return to Mut 2hr. later). Also, intercity buses to Farafra stop at Al-Qasr; to Kharga and beyond, at Balaat and Bashendi.

Taxis: Special sight-seeing tours LE3O-35 for 1 day, LE8-10 for a trip to east or west Dakhia. Ask around New Mosque Sq. in Mut and bargain. Special to Kharga LE100. Covered pickup trucks shuttle frequently between Tahrir Sq. and Al-Qasr, and between the hospital stand and Balaat and Bashendi (50pt for the full trip). Early morning is the best time to catch them.
