Sights and Entertainment
Dahab entertainment is characterized by an absence of alcohol and an abundance of cheap pot. Restaurants play a lot of Pink Floyd, reggae, and whatever narcotic sound they can get their hands on. The click of backgammon pieces is often the only noise emerging from slow-moving groups of loungers in the tents. Note that possession of drugs is illegal in Egypt, Egyptian jails rate low on the Michelin system, and dealers win an all-expenses-paid trip to the hereafter via firing squad.
The Black Prince Disco is an experience in itself; it singlehandedly represents the entire scope of Dahab nightlife. A free truck shuttle gets you from the town square (in front oi the faux Hard Rock Cafe) to the disco lkm south (of course, it costs LEI to get back to town). Dahabitants begin to trickle down around midnight, ready to dance madly until dawn. With the mad mix of Egyptians, Ethiopians, and Europeans, anything could happen, and probably will.
